‘Flat-track bully’ Pogba out to impress
Kopa won three consecutive European Cups with Real between 1957 and 1959, as well as two Spanish league titles and was the first Frenchman to be awarded the Ballon d’Or in 1958.
The former attacking midfielder joined Real in 1956, after losing to them with French side Reims in the European Cup final.
Real boss Zidane said of Kopa’s passing, to L’Equipe: “It was obvious to the club and to the whole team that it was necessary to pay tribute to Raymond Kopa, to salute his memory. His death affects us enormously.”
