Down by a goal, Arsenal fought back against Norwich City and finished the game 3-1 to occupy the third spot on the English League table. While Manchester City beat Chelsea 2-1 in the FA Cup semi-finals and Robin van Persie finally ended his goal drought as United extended their lead at the top with a 0-2 win against Stoke City.
Elsewhere, in Spain, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a bullet header against Athletico Bilbao and in Germany Borussia Dortmund thrashed Greuther Furth 1-6 in the Bundesliga.
